Tap into your dog’s natural instincts with NASDA, a sport all about hunting and tracking.

The North American Sport Dog Association (NASDA) was formed in 2016 to demonstrate the breadth of these olfactory abilities. Trials are designed to resemble both historic working and competitive field work as closely as possible. NASDA Working Dog Trials offer an opportunity for all dogs to engage in scent games previously open to only a select few breeds and working dogs. Competing teams can get titles and championships that showcase their merits and abilities within hunt and search situations.
NASDA aims to:
Encourage ALL dogs to play the exciting NASDA Working Dog events. This includes but is not limited to purebred, mixed breeds, companion dogs, or titled champions.
Provide a venue for all breeds to earn working-style titles in North America.
Qualify and certify judges so that working dog events may be held to consistent standards.
Maintain a registry of trial results and titles awarded.Welcome dogs or handlers of different needs and abilities.
Promote good sportsmanship both in and out of the ring.
Be a venue where dogs and handlers work together as a team in an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment while honing their skills and earning awards for or their efforts
intro to nasda class
These classes take place in the Barn Hunt building (the garage on the main part of the property, not the training centre).
This course will cover an introduction to the four different sports of NASDA - Urban Locating, Trailing & Locating, Lost Item Recovery and Shed Hunt. You will learn basic scent theory, leash handling skills, the importance of partnership with your dog, and rules of the game. Your dog will learn to trust their nose, communicate with you, and discover which Working Games they enjoy doing with you the most!
Note: Shed hunt is an outdoor sport, dress yourself and your dog appropriately for the weather. Trailing & Locating is also an outdoor sport, but our rodent friends are not cold tolerant, if weather doesn’t permit an outdoor search we will cover trailing & locating theory and then play another rodent game on that day (Barn Hunt or Urban Locating).

Shed Dog & Lost item
These classes take place in the Barn Hunt building (the garage on the main part of the property, not the training centre).
The "Rat Free" events sanctioned by the North American Sport Dog Association (NASDA). These two scent based events are modelled after real life work.
Shed Dog teaches dogs to locate and retrieve shed deer antlers from natural areas. (An existing retrieve is an asset, but not a prerequisite).
Lost Item teaches dogs to locate and indicate lost or dropped items bearing human odour. Learn to locate missing keys, lost wedding rings, and more.
Both new and experienced handlers will receive a simple introduction to scent theory, practice leash handling, learn to air scent in indoor and outdoor environments, and teach their dogs to "match" scent on the fly. Participants should leave feeling ready to participate in NASDA trials at level 1 & 2 in these events. Upper level dogs looking for more practice are welcome to enrol.

urban locating & trailing and locating
These classes take place in the Barn Hunt building (the garage on the main part of the property, not the training centre).
The "Rat Infested" events sanctioned by the North American Sport Dog Association (NASDA).
These two hunt based events are modelled after real life work.
Urban Locating teaches dogs to work in sometimes complex human made environments while they air scent for "rats" and indicate their location.
Trailing and Locating allows dogs to hone their natural tracking skills to follow a scent trail to quarry.
Both new and experienced handlers will learn basic scent theory, the components of natural canine hunting behaviour, and leash handling skills, as well as the difference between tracking, trailing, and air scenting. Participants should leave feeling ready to participate in NASDA trials at level 1 & 2 in these events. Upper level dogs looking for more practice are welcome to enrol.
